Dive the "Big O" the Aircraft Carrier Oriskany CVA 34

Hello Divers!

By now lots of you know that I dove the USS Oriskany last month. If you haven't heard, you'll get to read all about it in the upcoming SDI newsletter.

I had such a great time, that I want to go back, and I want to take some fun-loving SDI folks with me!

When: May 29 & 30

Where: Gulf Shores, Alabama

How much? $260 (recreational divers) $280 (technical divers)

The Oriskany is a deep dive, so Down Under Dive Shop requires the following

Certification: Advanced Open Water

Gear: Dive computer required

Here's the plan. We'll all make our own hotel arrangements, and we'll all make our own way to Gulf Shores on Friday. We'll meet at the Down Under (I'll get you directions a little later) at 7am to do paperwork, load gear and prepare for an 8am departure. Saturday, we'll head out for a six-hour trip to dive some site other than the Oriskany. The Captain will decide for us, based on currents & tides. It will be a good chance to get our gear and skills ready for the big day. Sunday, we'll keep the same schedule, but this time we'll head 25 miles into the Gulf of Mexico to dive the biggest ship ever sunk for divers. We'll be on station, moored above the Mighty O, for four hours. We can do two dives and between the dives, the boat crew will have snacks & drinks for us. After two great dives, we'll head back to shore and drive home. It'll be a long day, but it's worth it, I promise!

Space on the boat is going fast. If you're interested, sign up now!

See you soon ~ under water... on the Mighty O!!!
